Orewa Rotary Club and Laurie Parker Trust

          Free Blood pressure Test

120 women and 84 men attended a free blood pressure check on Saturday 17 January in Hillary Square, Orewa, thanks to the Rotary Club of Orewa

Rotarians Dr Ian Gibb(retired), and Dr Heather Burns (Orewa GP), and 2 nurses recorded blood pressures from 10am to 2pm.

The event was sponsored by the Laurie Parker Trust, which was set up to "reduce suffering from stroke or heart disease". 2 people were detected with high blood pressure for the first time.

Early detection and treatment of high blood pressure will reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack.

The event was well attended and clearly appreciated by the public.

A Big Thank You to the Farmhouse Cafe who provided refreshments.

Patients with heart disease or stroke, living in Rodney may be eligible for funding from the Laurie Parker Trust. Application forms may be obtained from Rotary Club of Orewa, PO Box 97, Orewa.
